The Road by Cormac McCarthy is an incredible memoir of the relationship between a father and a son after an apocalypticevent. It's set in America in what could be modern times.
It's awesome, and a really quick read. Pick it up-- but beware that once you do, you may not be able to put it down!

I totally agree. This was one of the best books in that genre that I have read in a long, long time. I didn't want to put it down OR have it end. It made me read another book by Cormac McCarthy entitled "The Crossing". It was pretty good too.
